Cover Letter Must-Haves

While your resume is your chance to make a great first impression, your cover letter (or lack of one), is the first thing a recruiter will notice about you. Including a cover letter will give businesses a comprehensive look at a job applicant and what they offer. Below are 3 cover letter must-haves.

1. Show your knowledge of the company – and the position you’re applying for.  Why do you want to be a part of this company?  What achievements of this company impresses you?
2. Sell yourself.  Follow up what you know about the company with what you can bring to it.  Why are you a good fit for both the company and the position you’re applying for?  Here’s your chance to highlight a specific accomplishment you’re proud of or list your skills.
3. Keep it short and well written.  Just like your resume, you want to keep the cover letter clean and to the point.  All you need are a couple of paragraphs.  And proofread, proofread, proofread.
